To all the doctors and nurses at Solano Hospital, I am so grateful for everyone's dedication to help me during my critical time in the ICU, but I want to especially recognize Liberty, who was my night shift nurse the evening I went into respiratory failure. That night was one of the scariest moments of my life. I was barely conscious, floating in and out of awareness, terrified, and unsure of what was happening. But even in that haze, I remember you, Liberty, your voice, your presence, your unwavering support kept me alive and pushed me to fight. I know I wasn't easy to care for that night: my vitals were unstable, my body was drenched in sweat, my fingers and toes cold. But you never left my side. You worked so hard that night and pushed me to fight for my life. You worked with such dedication, persistence, and passion, and you cared for me not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. The words you spoke to me … I still remember them. "You got this. You're going to live. I am going to keep you alive. You have to fight." Those words anchored me when I felt like I was slipping away. You believed in me when I couldn't believe in myself. I know you did so much more than I may never fully remember, but I will always hold on to how you made me feel – safe, comforted, motivated, and cared for on every level. You gave me strength and hope in a moment that felt like the end. ​ ​

Thank you, Liberty, for your deep, loving, motherly care. You are not only a highly skilled nurse, you are a healer in every sense of the word. I am forever grateful to you. You are a true angel in scrubs (Well, you ALL are)! I will never forget you!
