As soon as I arrived in the room, Lija washed me and placed a clean gown on me as I was needing to be cleaned. She also placed cool rags on me throughout her shift to help with my fever. I am blind and she knew how to help me. She took the time to read through my extensive medical history and seemed knowledgeable.
The doctor had to take an infected mediport out of my chest and Lija was there holding my hand and stroking my hair letting me know everything was going to be alright. It took longer than expected and she stayed with me for the whole 45 minutes. She treated me like I was one of her children and showed me such love.
Lija's amazing and she made a big difference in my stay. She is so attentive. I was so scared about everything going on and she helped to ease my fear. She even went so far as to talk to my dad on the phone to let him know how I am doing. She helped not only to ease my fears but my dad's as well. She cares and she has a 'mother' gene. I am newly blind, scared, I can't see anything, and she explains everything to me and that helps to calm me.
