When you feel anxious and have just experienced a traumatic incident, there is nothing that helps more than a kind word, smiling face, and assurance that everything will be ok. This is the exemplary care that I experienced on Sunday evening when I was transferred to 4 Tower from the ED following a motor vehicle accident.
Lillian spent extra time with me, answered my questions, and explained the general routine so that I knew what to prepare for. By not only demonstrating technical skills but also exhibiting empathy, Lillian affected my introduction to my hospital stay in a positive manner.
By the end of the admission interview, I knew not only would I receive excellent, professional care, but also felt like I had made a friend.
