Liliana exemplifies a DAISY Nurse by demonstrating her care and compassion while caring for my three-year-old son. Her patience with him was wonderful. Through some creative thinking and collaboration with my husband, we were able to successfully have my three-year-old take his first dose of oral medication.

Despite my son's refusal of chocolate and toys, things that any other toddler would have taken without hesitation, Liliana did not give up and was eager to help collaborate with the physicians and myself/husband to allow the autonomy of the patient and have him involved in his care. After my son took his medication by mouth, we celebrated his achievement with a parade around the unit and the reward of a toy of his choice. Now, back at home, my son is no longer afraid of taking his medication and actually asks for it.

I know for some, the hospital experience is scary, but I believe that with Liliana's help, she made it a positive experience for my son. Thank you for all you do each and every day. We may not remember your name in the years to come, but we never forget how you made us feel.
