It was noted to me when speaking to a colleague MD that he had been notified of a consult in AM on patient with multiple renal issues and lupus. The patient was 23 years old and was admitted to ICU. Upon noting the condition of the patient and clinical findings, Lilly Harrison collaborated with fellow nurses, evaluated lab data and used critical thinking to determine that the patient needed to be seen much sooner than "in the AM". She called the renal physician for a STAT consult and afterwards the patient received treatment. The renal consultant felt the patient's life was saved by asking for the consult to be done STAT, noting that the patient may not have made it until morning.

The extraordinary actions and critical thinking of Lilly Harrison deserves special recognition with the DAISY Award.
