Lily has been a nurse for many years and has several cases where she has been an asset in patient care. One recent example is of a bond she made with a patient family. Lily speaks Spanish and helped translate very sensitive information that would not have been appropriate through an interpreter phone. During her interpretation, Lily bonded with the patient's wife. The wife trusts Lily and finds comfort knowing Lily is on the unit (even when not taking care of this patient). Lily has come in on multiple days off to help the wife in understanding the prognosis and answering all questions the wife couldn't ask the doctor herself. She calls to check on the patient and patient's wife daily. She only needs a 30 minute warning to come translate and comfort the wife.
Additionally, the patient's wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and has no family support. Lily has stepped up to the plate to be a support system for her and her husband. Thank you, Lily, for your compassionate care. You are a true DAISY Nurse.
