If I ever have to go back to the hospital, I hope I get her to watch & care for me!

I want to recommend RN Lily Neeley, working in the MSU 5th floor (medicine surgical unit) at the VA medical center hospital, for the DAISY Award. Lily took care of me while I was in the hospital for kidney stone removal surgery, which I stayed overnight for. During my stay, Lily was on duty and took excellent care of me. After my surgery, I started to get severe pain and pressure on my private and bladder. Lily came & thought I should have a sonogram on my bladder to check the fluid content. It showed I had 600 of fluid in the bladder causing this pain which I could not pee out except very little; it was backed up due to surgery. Immediately, she ordered a catheter to be inserted in my bladder to relieve the pressure. As it started to drain, my pain of 10+ went away. I believe that her quick response to give me a sonogram that showed my bladder was blocked up saved my bladder from exploding! Thank God she listened to me saying I’m in severe pain of 10+ & had the caring & expertise to help me get out of pain & possible death from my bladder exploding!!! The next morning when she came back to work, she checked on me right away. She said I could be released if I felt well enough, which I did. Upon being checked out, she went over all my meds & showed me how to manage the catheter. She took her time with me, made sure I understood everything, and answered all of my questions. She was very thorough in everything. She did an outstanding job in making me feel cared for & very concerned for my health, & that I was always comfortable! If I ever have to go back to the hospital, I hope I get her to watch & care for me! She is a real asset to the VA hospital & the Veterans that she takes care of! Best RN I have ever had-so caring! I felt at peace when she was on duty taking care of me. She is an extraordinary & compassionate RN… I hope you will consider Lily to receive the DAISY Award. I feel she deserves it!!! Thank you & if you have questions, you can call me. -Vietnam War Veteran-
