She not only was invested in my care for so long but 1000% invested in our son. I will never forget how tough the last few weeks of our pregnancy were and how much Lily did for us.
Where do I even start with Lily? I spent a total of 7 weeks in the hospital at the end of my pregnancy. So many nurses were incredible and my care over those weeks was outstanding but Lily stood out the most. I was getting multiple non-stress tests a day meaning the nurses had to come to get me from one unit and walk me over to the other side for monitoring. Lily always made me feel like a friend versus a patient. Being there for so long was tough but Lily always put a smile on my face. She genuinely asked how I was doing, she always asked about my husband and she even talked to our unborn baby during testing. She was patient with me when I was having a rough day, she listened when I needed to vent and she answered scary questions we were avoiding out of fear and reassured us things were going to be ok.
Spending that much time in the hospital for the reason I was admitted required me to have my IV port changed every 4 days. This went on for weeks and being a hard stick, I ended up getting an IV in a rough location: my wrist. I had been crying because the location site was painful and had asked my nurse during day shift numerous times to change it. Because I was such a hard stick, they were reluctant and gave me ice packs to help with the pain. When Lily came over to get me for my testing that night, she noticed immediately the IV. Without even hesitating, she took action to get my site changed. I know this sounds so silly but her going above and beyond that night to have this IV changed truly made the world of a difference. It truly is the little things that go a long way.
When I finally was ready to deliver I was lucky enough to have Lily as my nurse a few times throughout the three days we were in labor. During my induction and after our little guy arrived, Lily was by our side. She even checked on me when I was not her patient ensuring I was comfortable and had everything I needed. My son was born just shy of 5 weeks early and spent a few days in the Special Care Nursery. Knowing Lily was a float between all 3 units really put our minds at ease leaving him after I was discharged. Seeing how much Lily cared for her patients really touched our hearts. She not only was invested in my care for so long but 1000% invested in our son. I will never forget how tough the last few weeks of our pregnancy were and how much Lily did for us. There are not enough thank yous I could say to show our appreciation.

As a first-time mom in the Labor and Delivery unit for days waiting for my son to arrive, Lily was by my side every night until the morning I had him. She was our angel during our 48 hr. labor. She made me and my husband feel so at ease and comfortable during our stay. Lily is very attentive, caring, and simply amazing at what she does. As a nurse myself, I have encountered other great nurses, but Lily truly impacted our life. Even after we had finished our stay in the labor and delivery unit, Lily came early to her next shift to come to check on us in the Mother Baby Unit. Her thoughtfulness, caring heart, and positive spirit brought us comfort during our stay. We (including our son) are thankful for having met her during our stay!
