I am a patient with Bipolar Disorder in the Psychiatry Unit of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital. Feeling that this is the most serious disease I've ever had, I became so upset, passive and pessimistic upon hearing the diagnosis. My condition deteriorated to where I became lazy and self-abandoned. At that time, I met the nurse, Jiami Lin.
Jiami is beautiful and always neatly dressed. She seems happy and passionate all the time and she always has a smile. Every afternoon, Jiami takes us patients to recreation therapy. We sing in group to release our feelings, do paper-cutting to develop more patience, and play ping-pong to get some exercise. Jiami also gives us lessons on sleep and instructions on meditation. Whenever I have questions, Jiami, she always answers patiently and carefully to me. Talking with her, I am inspired, encouraged and comforted. I feel relief from the anguish I suffer.
