I would like to recognize Linda Barton, a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Norwood Hospital. The care that was provided to me while at Norwood was exceptional by all of the staff but in particular Linda. I had emergency surgery and some of the complications with this surgery were due to a previous health issue from almost 40 years ago. As a result, my family was very concerned and fearful that this was a repeat of the nightmare we experienced in the past. After speaking with my family, Linda quickly realized that this was a major concern. She put a plan in place to meet with my family members to address all concerns that we had. She was very thorough and walked them through various procedures that were performed as well as what we should expect going forward. She was not only a support system to me, the patient during my stay at Norwood Hospital but to my family as well. She always had an encouraging word to say and was interested in who I was as an individual which I believe, is a quality that most patients are looking for in a nurse. She even made me a cough pillow which I took home from the hospital and will have forever, she wrote on the pillow, "I am awesome."
Linda should be commended for her outstanding clinical skills as well as her passion for nursing which is strongly reflected in the quality of care she provides. She is very knowledgeable, dedicated to her job and a very compassionate person. She exemplifies the essence of nursing on all levels. I don't know anyone that is more deserving than Linda for this recognition, she is a very special person and I will always be grateful to her for the outstanding care she provided to my family and me. Thank you, Linda, you are awesome.
