On January 29th, Linda was caring for a patient on 5 North. During the afternoon, the patient's family frantically called for a nurse to come help them. Linda headed to the room without hesitation to see what help she could provide. The patient's husband had collapsed in the room and had no pulse. Linda stepped right into action for this family. She provided the care needed for the patient, while communicating with the family to explain what was going on. She helped activate the EMS response and provided instruction and guidance to the nurses who had not experienced such a situation before. The patient was safely transported to the ED to be further cared for. Linda continued to make sure the family was fine and aware of what was going on. Linda provided wonderful care for not only her patient, but she saved a man's life as well. Linda's caring attitude toward this man and his wife warmed my heart. She did not look at them as strictly "patients", but with compassion and care that is unique. We are lucky to have her on our 5 North's team!
