December 2021 Honoree
Linda Elliott, RN, BSN
While visiting the HOCC ER I took note of Linda conversating with an elderly couple contemplating end of life services and choices. They were having difficulty deciding on safe care at home for the patient as well as her spouse, her sole caregiver. Linda was very professional. She was able to support the patient and spouse's needs, creating a plan that was safe and manageable for this couple to transition into end of life care so they both could be at ease with their decision and "enjoy" their time left together. When the plan was put into place the spouse came out and asked for Linda. He had tears in his eyes and thanked her for helping them. He mentioned how he was tired and did not know how much longer he would be able to continue caring for his wife and thanked her again because now he can enjoy the little time left with his wife and not have to worry about ''everything''.
Linda has always been a person to take into account the whole picture and not just one piece of it and she does it without knowing it. As a Case Manager, Linda has the clinical excellence and compassionate care that impacts patients' and family's wellbeing. Thank you, Linda, for all you do!
