December 2008 Honoree
linda good, RN
Laura was caring for a mom who had just delivered her first child. Mom's circumstances were complicated by a history of chronic migraines and the recent death of her own mother. Shortly before the end of Laura's shift the patient developed a significant migraine and was very distressed. Laura took command, discussed treatment options with the 24 hr staff as well as the patient's attending which involved several phone calls to the attending, devised an appropriate treatment plan, executed the plan and spent quite a bit of her own time debriefing the oncoming nurse about the patient. She truly went above and beyond to ensure that this patient received the best care possible. She cared and it showed.
Thank you, Linda, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
