I would like to nominate Dr. Linda Hofler for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award for creating an environment where extraordinary and compassionate nursing practice may flourish. Dr. Hofler has been a supporter of the DAISY Award from the very beginning when it was just an idea at a conference. I came back from that conference in 2013 ready and willing to bring this beautiful award alive at Vidant Medical Center with the idea to start the DAISY Award program and Dr. Hofler said, "YES!" She has supported the DAISY Award Program through the years to push it forward and went even further in 2018 and said, "let's expand this across the Vidant Health system." Dr. Hofler thought past one entity and pushed this international award program across all of Vidant Health. It takes a true leader who cares about the expression of gratitude and meaningful recognition to say one simple "YES" to impact a whole system!
Through the years, Dr. Hofler continues to carry a legacy to express gratitude in a way to foster an environment where our value of compassion can thrive at Vidant Health. She helps us shine the light on all the right happening with our patients and families to celebrate the art of nursing at its best!
