While I was doing other GI cases Linda Norris came to my room and informed me of a newly arrived NON diabetic patient with diaphoresis and ill appearing in holding.  The patient had a bowel prep and had never had symptoms like this before.  Linda had already taken a focused history with the patient and husband, started an IV immediately, and obtained a blood glucose that was 31.  She again notified me of the glucose directly, gave the D50 within a minute resulting in a rapidly improved/stable patient.  
 
Her care demonstrated quick thinking, skill, and caring.  Her actions prevented a potential crisis while also allowing the patient to complete her procedure.  Linda Norris notified me immediately, made independent critical assessments and decisions, and gave the prescribed treatment quickly.
