Much to my surprise, an appendicitis was not an "in and out" procedure. The nursing care I received on 3 Central also surprised me. My care was patient-centered with excellent communication and consistent quality care, professional and friendly!
I smiled when the nurses said I was a model patient. They encouraged me to walk and were quick to appreciate a bit of humor. That "breathing device" became a challenge to see how I improved. Every nurse visit included information, encouragement, and kindness. My goals were something we were working on.
I had a particularly challenging roommate. When I asked for help, two of my nurses immediately stepped up as my advocate. Linda worked to make the room temperature acceptable for both of us! With a lowered room temperature, I could easily breathe and sleep. Linda was gentle, caring and a strong support. I felt my health and comfort concerns were important and my concerns were not considered to be whining.
Thank you to Linda for doing what is truly a nurse's job, caring for the whole patient and being the ideal. Look up "nurse" in the dictionary and you will find Linda.
