My daughter J is a patient in the Pediatric Unit. She suffered a stroke and we went from the emergency room to EEG then to ICU. She was transferred to the pediatric unit on Wednesday.
She went from being a normal 19 year old to having very little strength not being able to articulate words and to wearing a diaper. We had no idea how much damage she had.
When Nurse Linda came in on Saturday morning and did her assessment she realized that J could tell us when she had to use the bathroom and had strength in her legs. Nurse Linda informed us that if we helped J, she could use a commode (which Nurse Linda brought us). We were excited to hear that. J used it once and from that day forward she has been going to the bathroom. I also wanted to give J a bath and wash her hair. Nurse Linda also made that possible.
Thanks to Nurse Linda's compassion, knowledge and resourcefulness we realized the strength and capability J had. That day she even walked (with assistance) to the teen room. Most of J's medication was being administered via IV. When Nurse Linda realized she could swallow without choking she informed the doctors and all her medications were changed to pills. Thanks to Nurse Linda's extraordinary care we were able to be more at ease knowing that J was making good progress. We are so happy. Nurse Linda also made sure we were okay.
We are extremely grateful for Nurse Linda's care. She showed us that her patient's progress and safety is very important to her. Nurse Linda showed us that she loves her job.
