I could tell right away that Linda has been a nurse for a while. She just has that way that only experienced nurses have, at putting her patients at ease. She made conversation right away and truly got to know me as a person and not just as a patient. However, this conversation never got in the way of her getting through the questions that she had to ask. She neatly fit those questions into our conversation. I was also dehydrated due to a later surgery and she had found a vein, but upon the stick, it disappeared on her. Instead of digging for it or just sticking me again, she asked another nurse for assistance. This nurse was able to salvage the stick. Linda's teamwork and putting her patient's comfort over her pride saved me from a second stick. My surgery ended up being postponed due to an emergency. I was on the ward for about 3.5 hours and Linda checked on me often and just continued her conversation whenever her schedule was allowing for her to spend time with me. She also did a great job checking on my mom to see if she needed anything and to keep her calm. This was my fourth surgery and was by far my best experience. Your nurses in same day surgery are magnificent, and I am sure after my time there that experienced nurses, such as Linda are the reason why. I am sure she is a role model for young nurses. Linda was a true blessing that day and I am so thankful to have been fortunate enough to have had her as my nurse.
