Even though Linda cared for me only one night during my stay, she did something that will remain in my heart as long as it beats. As she was dressing my wound, we somehow got chatting about food. I told her that I like to try many different kinds of food and asked her if there were any of the Southeast Asian restaurants in Wausau that she would recommend for good authentic food. She suggested one and then asked if I like egg rolls.
I told her I did, and she said, "I'm off on Friday and I'm going to be making a batch. I'll bring some for you." On Friday, I was wheeled off for my daily radiation treatment. When I returned to my room, it smelled good in my room and one of the other nurses asked me, "How do you rate? Linda dropped egg rolls for you, and no one else got any!" They were still warm and delicious! By far the best I've ever had. I regret that I wasn't there to thank her when she brought them and have never crossed paths with her since.
So, in addition to doing a fine job of caring for me that one night, Linda came through on her word and took time out of her day for me. I don't know many people who want to go to their workplace on their day off. I know I never did! A truly wonderful special person! In this day and age, who does something like that basically for a complete stranger? Thank you, Linda! I wish I could give you a big hug!
