Lindsey was responsive to my son's needs and showed kindness, compassion, and professionalism.
I am pleased to write to you today to nominate Lindsey Berg for The DAISY Award. I strongly believe that Lindsey is a prime candidate for the Award. I took my son to the ER with what we thought was appendicitis. After a CT scan, they determined that it was a very large kidney stone. We were referred to Dr O., and my son was then scheduled to have one-day surgery to break it up. Before the surgery, he had to go to the lab at Warren General Hospital twice. It has always been difficult to draw blood from him. Unfortunately, they had to try numerous times both days to retrieve the blood they needed. This resulted in a very apprehensive patient for the upcoming surgery.
On the day of the surgery, instead of being worried about the surgery, my son was worried about how many times he would be pricked to get the IV started. Lindsey Berg was his nurse that day. She took the time to listen to everything that happened before coming in for surgery. Lindsey was responsive to my son's needs and showed kindness, compassion, and professionalism. She looked at my son's veins and decided she wanted to put a heat blanket on him to try to make the veins show better. Lindsey took the extra time to do this. She was determined to get the IV started on the first try, which she did! We enjoyed her sense of humor, which helped put my son at ease and helped to distract him.
When he came out of surgery, Lindsey showed extraordinary compassionate care until we were discharged. People like this deserve to be recognized for the exceptional caregiver that they are. Lindsey made a stressful and difficult situation so much better for us. Lindsey is an amazing nurse who goes above and beyond! She demonstrates excellence in patient care delivery, which is why I feel Lindsey deserves The DAISY Award. I hope I have expressed Lindsey’s exceptional qualities. I think it is great that Warren General Hospital has The DAISY Award to recognize its exceptional caregivers.
