Once I was in tears and left the unit, and even though it wasn't a day that she was assigned to us, Lindsay came to find me off the unit and talk with me until I felt better.
Since day 1, Lindsay has gone above and beyond to help our daughter and our family. Not only is her care outstanding and on point, which is impressive given the complexity of our case, but she has made sure our daughter is always comfortable and we are as happy as possible. When we first arrived at the hospital with our newborn daughter, we thought we would only be there for a few days. As things escalated, and it was clear she was very ill and would need a heart transplant. Lindsay checked in with us constantly. Once I was in tears and left the unit, and even though it wasn't a day that she was assigned to us, Lindsay came to find me off the unit and talk with me until I felt better. She also offered to help coordinate anything that could help make our life easier, such as parking, even though that wasn't her job. Before we were able to bring our daughter's belongings to the hospital, Lindsay made sure she received a donated hat and blanket so she would be warm and comfortable. On some of our bad days, Lindsay will come in and talk to us, sometimes staying past her shift, to make sure we were in a better space. She always checks on us. She made up a schedule of the same nurses to be assigned to our daughter for consistency and to make us feel better and so we could get to know the nurses well since we will be on the unit a long time. I actually can't remember all of the things Lindsay has done for us because they are constant and daily, no matter what her responsibilities on the unit are. Our family has decided she's our "person" and we feel she is a great comfort to us and our daughter. We feel she will always advocate and help us, which is invaluable as we experience our darkest moments.
