Lindsay Dobucki exemplifies a DAISY nurse in so many ways! She has been a nurse since 2011 and has worked in the CICU at Egleston for the past 5 years. She is one of the most diligent, smart, and compassionate nurses in the unit and she makes a difference every night she works specifically regarding bereavement care in the CICU.
She is the Co-Chair of a newly developed Bereavement Care Committee in the CICU and she is truly passionate about making a difference in the experience of our patients and their families during the most difficult time of their lives. She went out of her way, going store to store to locate the most beautiful pajamas in all children's sizes for bereavement purposes. She believes that there is such a thing as a "good death" and it is her calling to care for bereaved families and give them the chance to say their good-byes in the most dignified and loving manner possible.
Another way that Lindsay exemplifies DAISY is by coordinating the Memory Making Workshop classes for the CICU staff. She realized that there was a need for education about how to make beautiful hand molds and other keepsakes during bereavement care on the night shift when the child life specialists are unavailable or limited. Without this class, countless families would have never received their child's beautiful hand mold, locket, or pictures after their child has died, a time when there are no "do-overs". All are precious keepsakes which can never be replaced, duplicated, or recreated, and are treasured by family, thanks to Lindsay's class.
