During this time, Lindsay was one of her nurses and both my brother and stepdad credit her for saving her life.
My mom came in with sudden and unexpected abdominal pain and vomiting blood. It was determined she had liver damage, diverticulitis, and colitis. She was considered critical and brought up to the Medical Critical Care unit. I live in Chicago, but my stepfather was here with her and, after a day, my brother. My mom was sedated for about 60 hours as the doctors and nurses worked to save her life.
During this time, Lindsay was one of her nurses and both my brother and stepdad credit her for saving her life. She got to come home on that Friday. She spent a week at home. I had a flight to fly out Friday morning on my way to the airport, my stepdad called me to tell me mom was on her way back to UT ER. Her body had relapsed.
Today she was moved to a comfort care room, she chose this and all the nurses we have met have been so wonderful to Mom and us. I want to nominate Lindsay because, if not for her, I wouldn't have been able to be here with Mom. My brother and stepdad said she was the reason mom got well enough to go home the first time; she got more time with her family and I am forever grateful to her to have helped her get to where she did the first time, to spend some time at home and with me. I don't really know her, but I will never forget her.
