Lindsay not only washed the patient's hair but cared for it in the way the patient would herself.
Last week, I worked with Lindsay, and she let me know she'd be busy with a patient for a bit. The patient had been there for weeks, and her hair was matted and unkept, as the patient was unable to care for it herself. Lindsay thought this was unacceptable, so she reached out to one of our former colleagues, T, for assistance. T told Lindsay the products she would need for the patient's hair (the patient was African American), and Lindsay went and got the products on her own dime at the recommendations of T. Lindsay not only washed the patient's hair but cared for it in the way the patient would herself. T was also working that day, and Lindsay had asked her to come and braid the patient's hair when she was finished. It took her a couple of hours, but they were able to make the patient's appearance more kept and her family was thrilled! Lindsay wasn't even that patient's nurse that day, but she went above and beyond to take care of the patient as a person. This is the kind of nurse I would want!
