She called my doctor to get all my IV meds switched to oral meds. Lindsay checked to make sure my oral meds were working okay.
My last night as a patient I got to meet a floater nurse named Lindsay. Her immense knowledge and thorough training in techniques made her capable to move through all the different hospital floors. I was lucky to have her. Unfortunately, second IV port blew out. The IV team came to put another one in. After being in the hospital for almost a week my arms had no room for another port. But a port was started on my left bicep and a nerve was hit. I had shocks run down my four fingers and I screamed. Lindsay ran into the room and asked what happened and I just started crying and said, “no, no, I don't want another IV”. Lindsay stood in my doorway and asked the IV team to leave because her patient refused the IV. She called my doctor to get all my IV meds switched to oral meds. Lindsay checked to make sure my oral meds were working okay. She realized I was too excited to sleep so we quietly chatted on and off till morning. Lindsay felt like a family member was with me.
