My daughter was brought to the ER and Lindsay was our nurse. She was kind and gentle with her. My little one is two and was inconsolable. She was fighting everything the nurses and aides were trying to do. We were scared and did not know what was wrong. Lindsay suggested blood work because as she put it, if it was her child, she'd want to check everything. She said she would feel much better if we checked her blood. Our daughter was dehydrated and not an easy stick. The first sample coagulated in the tube and was unable to be used. The second sample gave enough blood to be tested. Because of Lindsay, we were able to find out our little girl had a blood glucose of over 400. Lindsay, in the minds and hearts of our family, is partially responsible for saving our little girl. It was quickly determined that she was a type 1 diabetic and was in diabetic ketoacidosis. Lindsay offered to try to get an IV started and she was able to get the IV and it was used in the ambulance and at Riley North. In fact, another nurse commented on being thankful for the IV that was started in Frankfort. We cannot thank Lindsay enough and will always remember her superior nursing skills, attention to detail, and skilled care she provided our daughter.

Thank you, Lindsay L, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
