Working hand-in-hand with Lindsay Levitas, Nurse Coordinator for Hunterdon Pediatric Associates, they both stayed calm and stabilized the patient before the ambulance could arrive.
A patient and her husband arrived at the shared suite of Hunterdon Family Medicine at Riverfield and Hunterdon Pediatric Associates Hawk Pointe location. The appointment was supposed to be with MidJersey Orthopaedics who moved just down the block and the couple showed up at the wrong location. The patient's husband had a seat and immediately exhibited unusual breathing and trembling. Unbeknownst to the front-end staff, the patient had gone into cardiac arrest.

LW, Managed Care Coordinator at Hunterdon Family Medicine at Riverfield, quickly ran to get Heather Wise, Advanced Nurse Practitioner for Hunterdon Family Medicine at Riverfield, who performed CPR without a second thought, utilized the defibrillator, and performed life-saving measures on this patient. Working hand-in-hand with Lindsay Levitas, Nurse Coordinator for Hunterdon Pediatric Associates, they both stayed calm and stabilized the patient before the ambulance could arrive. The patient was transported to Hunterdon Medical Center’s Emergency Department.

Upon arrival, his ECG was very concerning for multi-vessel Coronary Artery Disease. Dr. P, Cardiologist, Hunterdon Cardiovascular Associates, performed a bedside Echocardiogram in the Emergency Department which showed reduced heart function, and subsequently patient went for urgent cardiac catheterization performed by Dr. M, Interventional Cardiologist, Hunterdon Cardiovascular Associates. The patient was sent later that day to Morristown Memorial Hospital for heart surgery. We are happy to report that the patient survived and is doing well because of the heroic measures by LW, Heather Wise, Lindsay Levitas, and Drs. M and P.
