Lindsay received an ER patient who was here for a failure-to-thrive situation who had already been seen by a couple different providers in our waiting room. Lindsay took the time to listen to her patient and obtained cleansing wipes for the patient and noted he was complaining of foot pain since he arrived. She removed his sock to assess the area he was reporting as painful. She found the patient’s skin breakdown so bad there was exposed tendon and bone. Lindsay advocated for admission for her patient and helped to save his life . . . BUT her caring heart didn’t stop here. During his in-patient stay, Lindsay visited him several times and played cards with him on her day off since he was homeless, alone, and also mute. Lindsay not only saved this man’s life but showed him he is not alone in this world.
