Lindsay McConochie, RN

"Listen to understand, not reply." This is a hard skill to learn as a healthcare professional, but is one that Lindsay readily exhibited with my family. There is not just one way in which to say Lindsay is an extraordinary nurse because she all around had fabulous care, and her practice in listening shined. When we expressed concerns, that we had said to multiple others, Lindsay listened with compassion, concern, and understanding, and relayed this information timely to the relevant professionals. Lindsay made sure to suggest referrals to get additional support my mother needed for our care team. Lindsay made us feel seen, heard, and understood. Although my mother could say the date and location, Lindsay listened deeper and paid attention when my mother couldn't remember what she ate 10 minutes prior. She looked after her medical care, but also the quality of care, coaching and encouraging my mom to do exercises, participate in grooming, and was therapeutic whenever possible. Whatever our outcomes may be, I fully trust that Lindsay did everything possible to help my mother, and I am confident going forward in her care. Lindsay was the piece that brought the whole team together, and she did that by listening to understand. Thank you so much, Lindsay!
