There are many things that make Lindsay Mehta an Extraordinary Nurse. We had a lengthy stay in the NICU with our extremely premature daughter. Baby B was born 16 weeks early weighing only 1 pound and 7 ounces. There were many days that were absolutely terrifying but there was something about the way Lindsay cared for our baby girl that made time stand still and put us at ease. Lindsay provided such loving care for our fragile baby it was as if she were caring for her own child. She would approach our baby slowly and gently, never rushing to wake her but gently rousing her. She spoke lovingly to baby B during cares and her movements were always smooth and steady, never rushed, no matter how busy she was. Lindsay had the ability to make you feel that caring for your baby was her one and only priority for the day. Lindsay took the time to make B her first toy during her second day in the NICU, a little doll that she placed inside her isolette. Once, when the only good vein that could be found for an IV was on B's head, Lindsay made a little headband to help hide it and make it look less intrusive. She is just truly thoughtful. When our baby was finally big enough to wear something other than just a diaper, Lindsay made sure to have a little outfit waiting for her. Every milestone, big or small, was made special by a something extra from Nurse Lindsay. Being in the NICU is incredibly scary and there are extreme ups and downs. As parents, Lindsay's care extended beyond just B and we too felt very cared for, listened to, respected and encouraged. We had many family members and friends come to visit during our stay and many times, they noted Lindsay's kind and gentle approach as well. Overall, Lindsay was a silver lining in an otherwise frightening place. Our little one eventually passed but the memories we share and the warm feelings that remain in our hearts very much include Lindsay.
