Lindsay exemplifies what true nursing is when caring for her patients and this particular patient.
Over the course of an extended hospital stay, our team has had the privilege of caring for a patient with a particularly complex medical history. This individual faced numerous challenges, including multiple surgeries, ICU transfers, and ongoing treatment for chronic conditions. Throughout this time, the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of our trauma and INICU nurses have been truly exceptional.
As we approach the last hospital day that this patient will be with us, I would be remiss not to reflect on the extraordinary care he was provided by the trauma and INICU nurses. I would be here all day to acknowledge all the hard work, compassion, patience, and, dare I say, love that was put into his care, whether it was routine procedures, daily hygiene, or physical therapy. We have all cared for this patient to some extent, but one person stands out: Lindsay Notarianni.
While many staff members contributed significantly, one nurse stands out for her exceptional dedication: Lindsay exemplifies what true nursing is when caring for her patients and this particular patient. From learning how to speak another language to better communicate with him and get a better neuro exam to having “spa days” to promote his hygienic needs, Lindsay knew what to do to put a smile on his face. She even went out of her way after a 12-hour shift (and a jog) to make a care package for the patient’s partner, who may not see the patient after he leaves via a med escort flight to his homeland.
Lindsay, thank you for embodying the values of patient-centered care and upholding the highest standards of nursing excellence. Your dedication and compassion have made a profound impact on the patient and the entire care team.
