In 2010, I was admitted for an SVT attack with Strep Throat and was hospitalized for several days. Then in January of 2011, I came in for outpatient surgery for ablation. During the ablation, the floor scope went down so they brought in a portable one. Then the portable floor scope went down as well. The electrophysiologist was into the left side of my heart and needless to say he had to abort the procedure due to the faulty equipment. My heart went into an SVT rhythm that would not recover. The doctor asked if I was sedated and the anesthesiologist advised the cardiologist that I was. When the shock came, I was NOT sedated and felt the shock. It was very unwelcome and my faith in this facility was tarnished and I suffer from anxiety when in any medical situation now.
Years later, I began suffering from lower right abdominal pain. On the suggestion from a friend who is a Physician Assistant, I decided to go to the emergency room for possible appendix issues. I was against going to John C. Lincoln again, but my wife thought that it would be better to go back to a familiar place vs. the unknown. I was admitted for an infection in my colon and I was very unhappy to be back in the hospital. Thankfully, I had the pleasure of having a wonderful nurse, Lindsay Reuben. Lindsay was very kind, knowledgeable and thorough with my care. I felt like I was given the "royal treatment" during my entire stay with her as my nurse.
Considering my recent medical background, I felt compelled to give a huge thank you to Lindsay and would like to make sure she is given the recognition she deserves. In this day and age, when nurses and doctors are overworked and burned out, Lindsay's bubbly attitude and charm are what a patient needs to heal. I don't know anyone who enjoys their time in the hospital, and I can honestly say that if I was in need of care again, I would request Lindsay to be my nurse without question, because she took the time to care for me as her patient and make sure I was comfortable at all times. Lindsay has an amazing spirit and is exactly how all nurses should be with their patients. It is my belief that Lindsay would make an excellent leader. She has an amazing work ethic, and appreciation for life and is a definite asset to John C. Lincoln.
