T does not drink coffee. Lindsay was quick to notice and promptly brought a diet coke. He was hurting more than he thought he would, and she stayed close just talking in a calm and steady voice. I know this is all part of the job, but when you are in that bed you don't have the best temper. He was rude at times. She stayed calm.
He is a large man 6'3.5" 300+lbs. He lost weight before the surgery. His size did not phase those nurses on the surgery floor. They were very cautious and aware, but very sure in their work.
Every time I needed anything from an extra pillow to him wanting to turn, Lindsay was right there. She seemed to anticipate what the next thing would be. T had this done 10+ years ago on the other hip. We had forgotten so much, it all seemed new again. Lindsay was exceptional about getting him up, off the catheter, and they had students there too! She would remind them of duties.
There was a time when he got up without an aide. Lindsay firmly told us why that could have ended badly and let her do her job. Firm but kind. If we must be in the hospital, she is my pick!
