Lindsay took care of a patient today who had a traumatic motor collision. Mom was still having abdominal pain and Lindsay advocated for her. She brought mom to the DCMC ED to get checked out. Mom eventually got transferred to DSMC. During this time, the patient needed surgery and the Dad had gone down with the patient. The patient’s 2 siblings were in the room (they were from out of town with no friends or family). Lindsay helped care for the 2 siblings by taking them downstairs to get lunch since dad was unavailable and mom was in the ED. After surgery, the patient was admitted to the PICU and Lindsay helped walk dad to her room. Dad teared up on the way and said, “You have saved my family today. Thank you so much for everything you have done.” Her commitment to her patients is incredible and the care she provides is extraordinary. I am so proud of her and all she does for her patients. She is an amazing role model of the care we should be providing at DCMC.
