My father was admitted to the hospital for one week prior to my being able to arrive and sit by his bedside. All of the nurses were super to him and me. On the first day I was there, Lindsay was especially helpful for I had never been exposed to these types of injuries or pain. I wanted to know about the details surrounding my father's injuries. She offered to show me photos of the injuries upon his admission and explained the differences between the different types of burn injuries. Lindsay kept me informed about his vitals, especially his kidneys along with seeing and addressing concerns about his pain management. When she entered the room she always spoke loudly and clearly so my dad would understand her and what she was doing. On the last day of my visit, I had several questions about dad's earlier surgical procedures, and once again, Lindsay took the time to explain about the surgical sites and their progression in healing. I appreciated that she never talked down to me and offered information that helped me process the next steps in his recovery. It also calmed me down to actually see his condition and be able to talk and share the information with others in my family. All of the nurses in the Burn Center have been super.
