September 2026 Honoree
Lindsey Baatenburg, RN
We would like to nominate Lindsey from the Pediatric GI office for a DAISY Award. Lindsey has been an invaluable caregiver for our son. Lindsey goes above and beyond every time to make sure whatever needs to happen does happen. She has been a constant in the office since our son, K, was diagnosed at 7 years old with Crohn’s disease. He is now 15 years old. She has made countless phone calls and sent numerous emails to resolve insurance coverage issues on our behalf.
In this latest instance, she sent paperwork right after the first of the year to try to make sure our son’s infusion would be covered and his treatment plan could continue without change or disruption due to some insurance changes taking effect. She spent considerable time and effort to make it happen for K. Lindsey has been a source of constant support when we have had worries or concerns. She listens empathetically and provides reassurance with knowledge and understanding. She is always reliable with follow-up and is so kind in all her communication. I can’t imagine the frustration and discouragement she must face every day while navigating all the insurance issues.
Lindsey is a leader among her fellow nurses; many times, other nurses have told us they would check with Lindsey for a question or issue. To be completely honest, Lindsey has made having a child with a chronic illness a more positive experience than I could have ever imagined. We can never thank her enough and appreciate her beyond measure. She exemplifies everything a phenomenal nurse is and more.
