I am writing this letter to you in hopes that you will always remember me not because of my cancer, but because of the love you gave me through my hard times and the relationship that we developed during my short stay. I have had a wonderful life and have encountered so many people in my lifetime, but you, sweetheart, were my favorite nurse of all time. Before I go see the Lord in heaven, I just wanted to take the time and write you this letter to "Thank You".
Thank you for being that person for me when I did not have anyone else. Thank you for having the heart and compassion for people who are sick and need help. Thank you for your kindness, dedication and healing touch. Thank you for always putting your patients first no matter how grueling you're your day is and thank you for having the empathetic ear and compassion when I had a life-threatening diagnosis delivered to me the day that I left the ICU. You took the time to come visit me every day you worked and have come a couple of days that you were off and the one thing that touched me most is when you sang to me. You have a voice that is calm and healing. I will look down on you from heaven and take care of you.
The last thing I would like to thank you for is for pushing me not to give up. I wanted to give up when the doctor delivered devastating news. You were on my mind for several days after the conversation we had before I left. I want you to know I was able to see my son one last time before I go up to heaven and I strongly believe that if it wasn't for you, I would not have been able to see him. Thank you so much. I wanted to write this letter to you before I got too weak and each day I was not sure if I would see your smiley face again. I love you and thank you for touching my heart and making the last days of my life memorable.
I wish there to be more nurses like you in the world because it is a healing touch for people like myself who are sick. Take care angel.
