We have come to St. Mary's many times and have stayed on the 6th floor. We have never had an unpleasant experience. All the staff is wonderful, and we love St. Mary's Hospital. However, one nurse, in particular, Lindsey Carver, made a real impact on both J and me. She made an awful experience so much better.
J had brain surgery and was experiencing different moods. They were very hard for me to tolerate. Lindsey, on the other hand, made it easy for me and better for J. She spoke to J with care, compassion and authoritative voice that made J calm down and be less anxious. I was amazed at how quickly J responded to her and relaxed. Every time that Lindsey came into the room, J calmed down, listened to her and responded to her requests. When she came into the room, never did we feel that she was in a rush to get to her other patients. She took the time to help J with his needs. We felt like we were her only patient in the hospital, even though she had other patients and she came and went often. She just showed so much compassion to J.
Lindsey Carver is a remarkable young professional lady. She is very focused on her patients and her nursing career. The several times that J has been admitted back into the hospital, I would go looking for Lindsey hoping that she had been assigned to J's care. Neither time was she assigned to him. When she would see me, she would become concerned and ask how he was, what was going on and that she would come to see him. She would either come on her lunch break or after she got off duty just to talk with him. We have never once had this happen. She took her own personal time just to check on J.
Lindsey truly cares about her patient's wellbeing. Just coming in and talking with J about anything he wanted to talk about made both he and I respect her so much. Lindsey has a wonderful gift. She is intelligent, kind, compassionate and a great listener. Lindsey Carter is a great asset to the Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital. We want Lindsey to be J's nurse every time he comes to the hospital. She made a huge positive impact on us. Hopefully, he will not be back anytime soon, but if he does, we know Lindsey will be there! You usually only hear complaints, but we have none. Everyone is great at St. Mary's and therefore we choose only St. Mary's Hospital.
