Lindsey arrived for an on-call shift in PACU. She was assigned to a patient who had just finished a long procedure. She noticed the patients diminished breathing sounds upon admission to PACU. When reassessing her patient, she noticed breath sounds were becoming even more diminished. The doctor was notified who came to assess the patient and ordered a chest x-ray. Because of Lindsey's careful assessment, it was discovered the patient needed to be transferred to ICU to have a chest tube placed. She made coordinating the patient's care seem effortless as she notified the anesthesiologist and surgeon to ensure the patient received the care she needed.
