Lindsey Haselby, RN

Lindsey Haselby advocated for her patient and showed compassionate concern by reuniting the patient with their spouse. The patient was the caregiver for their spouse, and the family described that they had a very close, loving relationship, reporting that they had a regularly scheduled daily routine for quality time together.

Unfortunately, both individuals were found down at home and brought to the ER, where it was discovered that they both had suffered serious medical events. Both were admitted to the hospital but on different units.

Despite having very busy days, Lindsey worked to coordinate with both medical units so they could visit each other. This was not easy, as one of the patients was unable to get out of the hospital bed. When the spouse came to visit her patient, she arranged the beds in a way so that the couple could see each other and hold hands.

As her patient continued to decline over several days, she continued to advocate for them and encouraged visits, and she was able to facilitate visits for three days in a row before our patient transitioned to comfort measures.

Through Lindsey's compassion, patience, and respect for human life and dignity, she was able to provide some closeness between a loving couple during one of their final days. I know this meant a lot to the patients, and the patients ' families were extremely touched by Lindsey's advocacy and dedication.
