The following summarizes a co-worker's account of a patient care episode: I received a patient from Labor and Delivery on the post-partum unit. From shift report and my initial assessement, everything seemed within normal limits. Within an hour my patient had excessive bleeding. She was light-headed and weak. I called down to Labor & Delivery and Lindsey arrived within minutes. She was calm and reassuring to the patient as she worked. The patient never lost faith in us. We worked together as a team to control the bleeding, start an IV, administer medications, and insert a urinary catheter. Because of the extraordinary skill, knowledge, and the compassion that Lindsey exhibited, I feel she deserves the DAISY Award.
