It is hard to summarize in only a few words what kind of nurse Lindsey Shepherd is to our Medical Surgical Unit at SJMH. Lindsey is an extraordinary nurse.
Lindsey exhibits everything you envision when thinking of what a nurse should be. She upholds the mission and values of SIH during every shift she works. She displays compassion towards not only her patients and their families but to her coworkers as well. When she arrives to work, she leaves her home life at the door and invests her entire self to the care and well-being of her patients. Her never-ending diligence, attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills are just a few of the qualities Lindsey displays while caring for her patients, all while maintaining great professionalism.
Even when thrown curveballs on her shift or she seems to be having a more challenging day than usual, she completes her work tasks without ever complaining and with a smile on her face. There is nothing that seems to deter her from her mission of providing quality care. Anytime a coworker (nurse or tech) on the floor needs assistance with a difficult situation or even just a place an IV, Lindsey is there without hesitation and with a willingness to help. She is the definition of a team player and when coworkers realize they have the privilege of working a shift with her, they know it will be a good one.
Lindsey Shepherd is an exceptional nurse and someone that I, and many others, look up to as a true compassionate leader on our unit, with a love for what she does.
