Lindsey is the type of nurse that sees the person behind the patient. Lindsey has the most compassionate and caring demeanor with our patients. She never forgets a birthday or special event. I could list a moment when she has impacted every one of our patients’ lives as she is that amazing. However, I will go with the most recent.

One of our patients resides in a nursing home and was complaining of foot pain. This patient was coming to the clinic with a dressing on her foot for several days. Lindsey called the nursing home several times wanting to know if the patient was being followed by wound care. She notified this patient’s nephrologist, and the nurse practitioner became involved. Lindsey was able to find out that this patient was not being followed by a wound care specialist and was being managed by an in-house doctor who had not seen this wound. The facility team immediately sent her to the emergency department for evaluation. She was admitted for gangrene and had they waited any longer, she would have lost her entire foot. The patient returned to the facility, with two feet, on her birthday. The facility team sang happy birthday and threw confetti on her at the end. She cried and said we saved her. It was Lindsey’s persistence, caring, compassion, and concern that saved her.

Thank you, Lindsey, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
