Lipty had immediately ran and help the patient to ease her breathing though she was not working on that module.
Lipty is one of our senior nurses in A3 that we look up to. She is like a walking PMS (policy management system) we can ask her anything about our patient care that we are not sure about. We feel at ease and confident when we are with her during our shift because we know that someone got our back. She served as our resource nurse in our unit as well as in other units. She doesn’t hesitate to lend a hand in giving cytotoxic drugs for those units that in need of chemo certified nurses. She also helped in central line dressing for other units that is not familiar doing it, and with that she received numerous of appreciation certificate from different units.

Lipty adjusted well easily with the changes brought by the pandemic in our unit. She gained competency in handling different patients from different services that is not part of our unit specialty. Her nursing practice is exceptional, that is why she received countless awards, one of which is Good Catch Award after she reported a wrong chemo medication dispensed by the pharmacy. She has been a constant nominee for employee of the month in our unit too. She is a patient safety advocate; she stands for her patient’s right and welfare. She has been chosen as one of our safety coach in our unit taking responsibility in reminding us of our safety practices not only for the benefit of our patient but also for their families, for our colleagues and for our institution.

Citing one incident being her patient safety advocate was when she stopped one of our residents in performing the procedure in the bedside for the reason that she doesn’t have the privilege to do so and she does it in a respectable manner without embarrassing the said resident. I have witnessed Lipty when one of our patients had difficulty breathing and her trache was totally blocked, Lipty had immediately ran and help the patient to ease her breathing though she was not working on that module. She offered a helping hand to her colleague in an emergent situation!

In terms of leadership, she is one of the best in doing the charge nurse role. She handles every unit problem professionally and with ease. She has been an active CLABSI task force leader in our unit that helps us in achieving zero harm to our patients. She has been a member of UBC and had been UBC Chairman for the year 2019. She is currently our Lab ambassador, we can tell her any issue that has to do with the blood drawing for our patient and she collaborates with the lab technicians to work on it. Lipty is willing to go above and beyond her duty for the well-being of her patients.
