She truly saved his life, time and again, while always treating my dad with dignity and respect, valuing him as an individual.
Lisa Aquilina has made a significant positive impact on the lives of patients and their families. She is a hardworking and committed individual who is dedicated to empowering people to live their best lives. She provides quality care with kindness, patience, and empathy. Lisa is a true professional with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to managing complex conditions. Lisa began working for the VNAHG as a home health aide, where she excelled at caring for patients’ personal care needs and assisting with activities of daily living.
Meanwhile, she attended a nursing program and ultimately obtained her RN license. Within a few years, Lisa excelled at her craft in home care and became a preceptor. During this time, she also attained her BSN and obtained certifications in wound care and gerontology. She has provided preceptorship and support to many of her teammates in Monmouth and takes nursing students out regularly to educate them in the home care specialty. Another patient and his spouse called together to say, “She has been excellent; she goes all out to figure out what to do next for a patient. She is wonderful. She is a good person. We are going to miss her after her last day. She brings happiness to us when she comes.”
And last, a written compliment was received from a patient’s daughter, stating, “I am reaching out to acknowledge the amazing care this nurse has given my dad for a number of years. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in May; however, this nurse was an integral part of his care. She was a reliable, kind, considerate, empathetic nurse whose attention to detail was impeccable. She saw my dad weekly and immediately noticed any change or decline in my dad's condition. She would act quickly and accordingly, and then communicate clearly to me whatever direction was necessary to keep him as healthy and comfortable as possible. Her compassion, care, and persistence are what kept him going daily. She kept my father's health the best it could be and kept me and his aide well informed. As a busy single mom of a young teen with a full-time job and a dad's much-declining health, caring for him was consuming and emotionally exhausting. This nurse kept me on track, reminding me of doctors he should see, care he needed, and when it was time for a trip to the ER. These ER trips were necessary and lifesaving, but gave my dad much anxiety. He was so fearful, but this nurse comforted him and kept him calm each time. She truly saved his life, time and again, while always treating my dad with dignity and respect, valuing him as an individual. We are so blessed and grateful that she cared for my dad. This is recognition for her tremendous efforts, which she very much deserves. Thank you!”
