An older gentleman in one of our departments, made the difficult choice to stop fighting covid, this was his wish alone and he didn't want his family to have to choose. Lisa Bartuska assisted this patient in calling his family as they couldn't visit and then she sat with him as he transitioned to comfort care and ended his time on earth. In my opinion, this is what nursing is all about - giving your all throughout the day and then staying over into the night shift to give your heart to this patient in his time of need too.
