All of these characteristics which describe Lisa are summarized in the following narrative:
B was a patient on the inpatient hospice unit. B and her husband were approaching the date of their 58th wedding anniversary. One of B's goals was to live to see this day and celebrate it with her husband and friends. Upon learning this, Lisa got a glimmer in her eye and was determined to make it happen. She began making arrangements for the couple to renew their wedding vows by asking our own Reverend V to be the officiating pastor. After learning B loved the music of Elvis Presley, Lisa made "Love Me Tender" the theme song of the day. She spent several nights making decorations including photos of the celebrants when they were young. She spent hours on her day off transforming the Family Room into a cozy wedding hall. She bought a cake and flowers for the special couple, coordinated food donations, and invited everyone! On the day of the celebration, she helped B get all dolled up in an outfit her husband brought in for her to wear. When they entered the beautifully decorated family room, everyone was flooded with tears of joy! The happy couple was in awe of this extraordinary celebration that was arranged in their honor. A few weeks later, B passed away. Soon after that, her husband stopped by the unit to share his pictures from that unforgettable day. He is blessed with the memories of a special celebration that was made possible by a very special nurse!
