We met Lisa when my brother had his first surgery to remove cancer from the lymph nodes in his neck. She had floated to his unit that day. Lisa was kind and smiling the moment she walked into his room She took excellent care of him until he went to surgery. He ended up having to go back to surgery about a month later to close the wound. To our surprise, Lisa walked in to be his nurse at the WSMP Pre-op unit. She remembered my brother and me. Again she took excellent care of him until he went to surgery. She expressed true concern about the possibility of him getting pneumonia due to the abnormal breath sounds she heard during her assessment. She went out of her way and got a breathing treatment ordered so he would be breathing better before intubation. Lisa sat down on the bed and discussed her concern with me. Lisa is compassionate, and caring, and showed true concern for his wellbeing. I appreciated how she sat down to talk to me. As a nurse myself, this act of concern and caring meant a lot to me. She floats when needed and never complains. I’m grateful she was here for us for both surgeries. She eased my brother's anxiety and demonstrated excellent nursing skills and humanity.
