I am truly impressed by the compassion Lisa showed a patient on MS1. Lisa was providing care for a very restless patient. The patient had just fallen asleep after being up all night. Lisa was a true patient advocate when lab awoke the patient for a blood draw shortly after falling asleep, she had a very gentle approach and tone with the patient who was confused and did not respond well to commands. The patient required a lot of assistance and multiple verbal prompts to follow through with simple commands. Lisa spoke to the patient as if he was able to participate in the typical conversation. Lisa offered the patient medication to assist him with his restlessness and pain. She also offered him an aromatherapy massage. The patient was more responsive to her during the massage than I had seen him in hours. Lisa's interactions with this patient were truly touching.
