I can't thank all of you at IUH North enough for your kindness and compassion during my Mom's final illness. All of your team was extremely supportive and went the extra mile to make sure that my mother was receiving preeminent care during her last days.
But I want to single out for praise and appreciation two outstanding nurses who took care of my Mom during her final stay at North -- Lisa Compton and Karla Deering. They were truly extraordinary. Their compassion, consideration, thoughtfulness, skill, and personal engagement with my Mom and my family were just exemplary. They made a very, very difficult time bearable and manageable. Their professionalism was clear every minute, but they really went way above and beyond the "call of duty" in how they cared for my mother. I think in retrospect that they knew before we did that my Mom was not going to make it, and it makes their caring and compassion all the more moving and appreciated.
It is a tribute to your leadership that you have created such an exceptional culture of caring at North, and that you have been able to recruit and retain truly exceptional nurses like Lisa and Karla. As you know, my Mom spent a fair amount of time at North since she came to live near us in Carmel last year. We never had a bad experience with any of your staff, and all of her nurses provided her with outstanding care. But Lisa and Karla will forever have a special place in the hearts of our entire family because of the way they cared for all of us at the most trying time imaginable. I salute them and all of you, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
